Addressing Childcare Shortages with Business Start-Up Workshop
Workshop Designed for Start-Up In-Home Child Care Providers in the Northern Black Hills
Childcare shortages persist as a pressing challenge for many families across South Dakota, spurring a series of free, full-day Child Care Business Bootcamp workshops in August.
Recognizing the need for proactive solutions, a coalition of organizations is working together to empower individuals to be part of the remedy. Led by Elevate Rapid City, Klein Visioneering Group, and SD CEO West Women’s Business Center, these business bootcamps will be hosted in Spearfish, Sturgis, and Rapid City. The one-day workshops are designed to provide information about start-up and operational processes for in-home childcare businesses.
“This was a thought-provoking, hands-on workshop that left me feeling inspired. This program did a great job providing actionable concepts that encouraged instant application. I am thankful for having the opportunity to attend,” said a June 2024 bootcamp attendee.
The Sturgis, Spearfish, and Rapid City sessions are open to anyone in South Dakota. These sessions are the final three workshops from the seven-part series hosted across the Black Hills. Organizers also express gratitude to community partners helping to host the events: Sturgis Economic Development Corporation and Spearfish Economic Development Corporation. The workshops are free of charge, and lunch will be provided for all registered attendees.

- Wednesday, August 14 in Spearfish at the Joy Center on the BHSU Campus, 1351 St. Joe St. with Spearfish Economic Development Corporation
