• STURGIS  (5/6/13) – The Sturgis Economic Development Corp (SEDC) joined the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) to promote South Dakota’s energy industry at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The conference and trade show, which ran from April 30 – May 2, attracted 300 exhibitors and more than 2,000 attendees.  It was the first time the GOED exhibited at the event.

The Williston Basin Petroleum Conference offered an opportunity to develop relationships with oil and gas companies, and to encourage them to consider doing business in business-friendly South Dakota.

“The Bakken oil field boom creates a unique fit for Sturgis and Meade County,” stated Pat Kurtenbach, President, Sturgis Economic Development Corp.  “ The Sturgis Industrial Park offers buildings and land for companies chosing to locate near the oil patch.  Since Sturgis is only five hours from the Bakken, we are poised to offer both service and support needs for oil businesses, as well as recreational opportunities for their employees.  ”
